Please encourage residents to keep testing
England has entered Step 4 of the COVID-19 roadmap with no restrictions in place.
The Prime Minister has stated that all should continue to wear face coverings in crowded or enclosed areas, such as public transport.
We're continuing to remind residents to take a regular lateral flow test at home or at one of our Community Testing sites until further notice.
Remember if anyone has symptoms they should book a test.
Signage at our Council sites informs Councillors, staff, residents and visitors to 'please wear a face covering should you wish to'.
For any questions, please email media@rushcliffe.gov.uk.
Meanwhile at Nottingham University Hospitals including QMC and City Hospital, those attending the sites still need wear a face mask, use hand gel and socially distance two metres until further notice to help keep vulnerable patients and staff safe.

Have your say on how ‘No Mow’ Rushcliffe summer pollinator sites are managed
We are asking residents to give their views on its current trial ‘No Mow’ summer pollinator sites that are encouraging wildlife and habitats to thrive even further and how these spaces are managed going forward.
Its online summer pollinator survey is now available for residents to give their views on the managed sites at https://bit.ly/364kAri until September 30.
It follows action by our Grounds Maintenance contractors Streetwise to not mow selected areas across the Borough to help create the natural corridors for local wildlife.
All trial areas are on land that we are responsible for:
- Gotham Road, East Leake
- Miss Machin’s field, Edwalton
- Stamford Road allotment entrance, Gamston
- Abbey Circus, West Bridgford
- Abbey Park, West Bridgford
- The Hook, around the play area, Lady Bay
- Other smaller non-recreational areas
All sites feature signage stating ‘please excuse the weeds, we are feeding the bees!’.
This sustainable management of the open spaces helps to not only mitigate the impact of climate change but supports our Carbon Clever initiative and its commitment to become carbon neutral by 2030.

Give your views on air quality plans for Trent Bridge and A52 at Stragglethorpe
Residents, groups and the wider public are being encouraged to give their views on an Air Quality Action Plan (AQAP) seeking to reduce air pollutants in and around Trent Bridge and the A52 at the Stragglethorpe junction.
We are now asking for views on the plan available to view here: https://bit.ly/2UxABEp
All views can be made via the online survey, by emailing environmentalhealth@rushcliffe.gov.uk or in writing to: Environmental Health Manager, Rushcliffe Borough Council, Rushcliffe Arena, Rugby Road, West Bridgford, Nottingham, NG2 7YG until September 6.
We are set to deliver the plan along with partners until April 2026 to reduce concentrations of air pollutants and exposure to air pollution in both locations currently designated Air Quality Management Areas (AQMAs).
Local authorities have a central role in achieving improvements in air quality. Through the Local Air Quality Management (LAQM) system local authorities are required to assess air quality in their area and designate Air Quality Management Areas (AQMAs) if improvements are necessary.

Historic photo of Lutterell Hall gifted to The Rock Church
We have gifted a historic photo of Lutterell Hall to The Rock Church to proudly display in the community building they now manage in West Bridgford.
The photograph was taken by a local resident in 1929 and was found in our archives earlier this year, depicting its early heritage as a notable building in the town, which is now Grade II listed.
Upon locating the image, we arranged for it to be enhanced and printed on a new large canvas.
It was donated by our Leader Cllr Simon Robinson alongside the framed original to Senior Leaders of The Rock Church Alistair and Kate Kent and Operations Manager Sofia Lesiuk, who took over the lease of the building in May.
Lutterell Hall is now newly refurbished and managed by the organisation and can be hired for events including weddings, parties, classes and conferences with further details on how to book on the dedicated website: www.lutterellhall.org.uk
Cllr Robinson said: “We were delighted to gift these brilliant historical photographs to The Rock Church, who will display them inside the building highlighting the hall’s history in the town.
“It’s great to see continued renovation work taking place at the hall so that it remains to be a high-quality community facility. I would encourage anyone to come and take a look at the refurbishment to date, the group have done a great job so far in making it ever more attractive to new audiences.
The Rock Church manage day to day bookings and usage of the Hall, keeping the building open for community use with St Giles’ preschool continuing to use the base.
The new operating model highlights the shared ambitions of the community, council and local groups to attract more community activities to the Hall and provides an increased sense of community ownership and involvement of this valued asset in the town.
Alistair said: “It’s brilliant to receive these almost century old photos of the Hall from the Council which will now take pride of place inside the building for those using the facility to admire.”
Sofia added: “The facility is now ready to hire. Please get in touch if you would like to look around ahead of a booking and be given a guided tour of the premises.
“Drop us an email on info@lutterellhall.org.uk or call 07379 790266”.
East Leake's new castle playground now open!
East Leake Parish Council’s newly re-equipped children’s play area opened yesterday, (July 28) on Costock Road in the village.
Designed for children from two to six years old, the centrepiece is a bespoke three-tower castle structure featuring an engaging mix of imaginative and adventure play activities.
Chairman of the Parish Council, Cllr Kevin Shaw joined fellow Parish Councillors and representatives at the park to open the facility.
He said: “The Parish Council is proud to present this exciting refurbishment of the Oldershaw Trust space and hope it will be enjoyed for many years by East Leake children.
"It is funded by developer contributions from the Cornflower Way ‘Flowers’ Estate, which was built a few years ago by David Wilson Homes. It is particularly important for children this end of the village to have a play space close to where they live, but also open to everyone.
"Our vision for the space is a woodland trail with play elements that merge into the landscape, and an emphasis on discovery and nature. Work will be continuing to add new features for children to find that enhance the environment and stimulate their interest in wildlife.”
The equipment was provided and installed by Setter Play, who researched the history of the village and customised the castle.

Nottinghamshire Police leading the way as crime plummets
The overall fall in crime recorded in Nottinghamshire was way ahead of the national average and only bettered only by the City of London Police – which covers just a square mile of the capital.
New national statistics show robberies, burglaries, knife crime and other serious offences all plummeted, marking a sustained drop which started well before the impact of the pandemic.
Continued investment in specialist policing teams and more officers helped the force to record an overall annual fall in crime of 21 per cent – comfortably ahead of the national average of 14 per cent.
The new figures, released by the Office for National Statistics, show 22,239 fewer offences were recorded in the 12 months to April 2021.
Burglaries fell by 34 per cent, robberies by 36 per cent and theft offences by 33 per cent and serious sexual offences saw a significant reduction too.
Offences of violence with injury fell by 25 per cent and knife crime by 15 per cent, as officers continued with a raft of proactive initiatives in pursuing those who cause communities most harm and preventing offences.

Have your say on new bus strategy
Nottinghamshire County Council are set to draft a Bus Service Improvement Plans (BSIP) for Nottinghamshire and Nottingham, in collaboration with the local bus operators.
This stems from the government’s recently published National Bus Strategy - ‘Bus Back Better’, which requires all English local transport authorities to work with bus operators to come up with bold plans for improving their local bus services and encouraging more people to use them.
Government has pledged £3 billion in funding across the country to help deliver these plans, and Nottinghamshire and Nottingham are aiming to secure a fair share of that funding.
As an important input to the plan, they want to find out what people think would improve local bus services and what would make them use local buses more.
They are keen to hear from people who already use buses and from those who currently don’t. They also want to hear from public, private and voluntary organisations who have an interest in making our bus services work better.

Residents urged to respond to electoral canvass emails
Residents across the Borough are receiving an email asking them to confirm their household details to ensure they are registered to vote for future elections as part of our electoral canvass.
Those who have received an email can visit www.householdresponse.com/rushcliffe
In order to complete the online response they will need their security codes, which have been provided by the correspondence from us and their postcode.
If residents add any new people at their address they will also need to complete a registration application. They can do this at www.gov.uk/register-to-vote and we will send each person a form if they do not apply online.
If no response is received to the email and for properties where we do not hold an email address, a paper form will be posted in the coming weeks. If a paper form is received residents should follow the instructions and respond where necessary.
All responses should be completed by August 13.
